Magazine showcases a pioneer in micro-manufacturing components using high performance materials.
Blacksburg, VA – September 24, 2008. Schultz-Creehan LLC’s micro-manufacturing technology was chosen for the premiere issue of MICROmanufacturing Magazine. The magazine launched its first issue at the six-day International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago this month to an estimated audience of over 91,000 individuals.
Recognized for their expertise in creating micro-sized components, Schultz-Creehan LLC provided insight on requirements for micromachinery. Dr. Jeff Schultz, Chief Technology Officer of Schultz-Creehan, was interviewed regarding the expansion of micromachining as a critical and challenging manufacturing technology. As industries continue to demand smaller and smaller parts with improved accuracy, the use of micromanufacturing machines is imperative. Custom fabrication at the micro-level requires unique materials, design, and manufacturing expertise. Schultz-Creehan uses micromachining to ensure superior accuracy in the production of component for aerospace, defense, and medical devices.
With an 18” X 20” footprint, the company can rely on its micromachining center for producing this high accuracy. The axis resolution is .0001” and the repeatability is .00019”. The machine can drill holes from 0.002” to 5/32” (0.05mm to 4mm) that are about ½” deep. With this machine comes enhanced design and development.
